Good morning! Our latest wedding show has been & gone, how we're halfway through January already I have NO idea.
Sunday 13 January saw us at The Thatch Barn in Yelling, St Neots. It's a beautiful barn wedding venue set in the Cambridgeshire countryside, with views of rolling countryside from the terrace & gorgeous, carefully refurbished features inside.
For our wedding show & venue open day, we brought just 10 of Cambridgeshire's top wedding specialists to the attention of visiting couples. Wedding cake, wedding flowers, wedding DJ, wedding decor, wedding dresses, wedding planning & wedding photography, all set against the backdrop of this lovely barn.
We had a wonderful day talking to couples about their plans & all came away with a warm glow - which was helpful as the weather was pretty bloomin' chilly! A few pictures are below, or see our Facebook page & Instagram pages for some more information.

Our Large dining hall seats up to 120 guests with a dance floor and stage area for musical performers and DJ’s. We can cater for wedding receptions with up to 180 guests.
We offer Catering and Fine Dining for all requirements provided by our professional in-house catering team.
We have a fully licensed bar separate from the dining hall, with a superb selection of wines, beers, real ale and spirits.

It's been a few weeks since I did an update on availability, so actually it's been a few MONTHS! I'm very out of practice but hope this year is the year I get better at blogging.
Our first event of 2017 was The Grand Hall in Bedford on Sunday 8 January, we had a fantastic turnout, so I fully expect the rest of 2017 to follow suit! (In fact the picture below is from Sunday's show, taken around 10 minutes after we opened)

We were recently named as runner up in the English Wedding Awards "Events" category. I had to provide a supporting document, & I thought you'd like to see how I described the business. Thanks to all for voting for us, it was a a HUGE honour to get to the finals. Bxx
Beckie Melvin Events have a simple philosophy. We take the counties best independent venues, fill them with the top independent wedding specialists & suppliers, & bring them to the attention of discerning couples. We don’t run large events, instead preferring a more intimate approach.
This way, the couples can create a rapport with each supplier, including the venue, ensuring it’s a match made in heaven. We get to know each exhibitor personally, & see a high rebooking rate. Many have gone on to become friends outside of work as well, which is an added bonus!
The venues that we work with systematically rebook us time & again, agreeing that our approach of high levels of marketing, a personal relationship with each supplier, mixed with our levels of expertise in the industry all lead to successful fayres time and again.
Feedback from our events has been fantastic, & we’re thankful each & every time it’s received. However we never get complacent – each event has us wanting to reach more people, see more specialists boost their business, & get more bookings for the venues we’re working with.

Beckie Melvin Events is a VERY small operation, but with a HUGE amount of heart & passion. Owned & run by myself, Beckie Melvin, based in Bedfordshire. I’ve qualifications in Events & Hospitality, Marketing & Wedding Planning but I’m constantly wanting to learn more, in an effort to further improve the events experience for those I work with. I have a great network of close friends & family, all of whom I can’t thank enough for their continued support as I build my business. I’m blessed to be able to work with them, as well as making new friends from the shows I run.
I also support a national wedding charity through my work, I am the Bedfordshire ambassador for Gift of a Wedding. This wonderful charity provides dream weddings to couples facing terminal illness, often with just a few weeks notice. They make a HUGE difference to people’s lives but rely on donations from the public, from physical items such as dresses, rings & flowers, to services such as music, beauty & décor. I am able to offer my event planning services should they be required, & I also tell the couples I meet about the charity’s work, to help further their success. I think it’s safe to say that I live & breathe weddings!
